Projects > Object Impermanence

This project is an ongoing site specific installation. For the duration of each exhibition, a new painting on plexiglass is placed on the stand every other day with a piece of ice on top. As the ice melts, the water alters or washes away part of the painting. The tray below collects the water and the runoff from each day. For this iteration, the paintings directly reference the floor tiles of the San Marco Basilica in Venice. A camcorder installed above the stand records and displays a live feed of the melting on a large monitor in a separate room. Afterwards, the paintings are displayed as remnants on a large pedestal.
